This beautiful ring is imbued with darkly seductive romance. The focal point of this perfectly imperfect 18 karat gold ring is a green faceted tourmaline in a deep, almost black shade. When it catches the light, the slightly translucent stone plays tricks on the eye, flirting between tones of olive and forest green, and at times adopting a golden brown hue from the 18 karat gold bezel behind it. Due to its mercurial nature, this particular gem is hard to capture in a photograph, but trust us, it's pretty spectacular in person. The tourmaline is surrounded by a hand carved, white sapphire encrusted 18 karat gold band. Each ring is one of a kind, due to the ingenious technique employed by the designer, Polly Wales.
Wales is a true pioneer in the jewelry world. Unlike traditional jewelers, who set their stones after casting the metal forms, the London-based designer casts the gemstones along with the gold, which results in beautifully organic, jewel-encrusted pieces that look like they were formed naturally, deep within the Earth’s core. No two pieces are the same, but every piece is imbued with her unmistakable, organic-meets-luxe aesthetic.
