Each of these sterling silver hoops features a row of three turquoise-studded starbursts. These earrings pay homage to traditional Native American silver and turquoise jewelry, but they are at once recognizable as MQuan pieces for their distinctive celestial motif, which recurs throughout the artist's work, from her jewelry to her ceramic bells, vases and dishes. Each hoop measures approximately 3/8" in diameter and 1/8" wide.
MQuan is a line of ceramics and fine jewelry, designed by Michele Quan in Brooklyn, New York. Her beautiful, organic designs are inspired by natural phenomena, celestial imagery and Eastern spiritual symbols. Her work is a visual exploration of our experience of the natural world, and an attempt to translate our innate sense of wonder into tangible objects. Her ceramic art objects are either wheel thrown, hand built or slip cast, and each piece is glazed and painted by hand. The jewelry in MQuan's line is made from sterling silver and 18 karat gold and set with precious gemstones, and features motifs that complement her ceramic designs.
