This charming little feathered fellow is perched on an antique teal croquet ball. His hand painted teal, green, blue and black wooden body is adorned with an assemblage of vintage metal ephemera, including a curious little emblem on his back and delicate wings crafted from rulers and watch parts. He has a metal monocle over one beady eye, all the better to see you with, and a real feather atop his teal head. He measures about 7" tall, 3" wide and 5" long. Each bird is a unique work of art, so the tanager you order may have different embellishments from the one pictured but will feature the same overall size, color and look.
Mullanium songbirds are handcrafted in Florida by a husband and wife team, Jim and Tori Mullan. The Mullans share a lifelong love of antiques, found objects and art. They were inspired to make these songbirds when they saw how well their collection of vintage ephemera paired with the antique bird decoys a friend had given them. They use the original decoys as models for the new birds, each of which is hand carved and hand painted and then embellished with Jim and Tori's curious collection of found relics.
